In what ways does your media product, use develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products ?

We then thought that the open ended narrative was breaking a huge convention and for a comedy film  there should be a closed narrative. Therefore we changed the ending of the film. We then showed the two boys after they switched lives and how they were living in their new lives. We also added more music to make the film more upbeat and comical.

I also changed the order of the scenes. When they bump into each other was put in after they make the wish so it looks like they swapped then.

The first wish.

Then the second wish.

scene 3

Then when they bump into each other.

scene 1

However for my poster I suppose in the end I didn’t challenge many conventions as I decided to do a one page spread. I also changed the colour of the text to blue to fit the theme of my poster and the picture I used from mu poster with just the background and put it on the top. I personally prefer this design as I believe it fits in with the Little White Lies theme as quirky, even though my text is blue.

Health and safety

Short Film Production: Health and Safety Audit

Before embarking on any production work you need to consider health and safety issues. In real media workplaces a health and safety risk assessment would be completed.

UNIT: TASK

Lifting heavy objects Tripods- these may be heavy therefore we would need maybe at least two people to carry it.

Taking care with electrical cables If the camera needs charging then we would need a cable we would make sure that we will not be using the camera while it is charging. It will also be stored in a safe place where no one will be able to trip over the wire.

Storing equipment safely and appropriately When we are finished with the equipment we fold the tripod up the correct way and put it away in a safe place so it cannot be damaged. Regarding the camera we will put it back in its case and if at school keep it in our bag. If we happen to film in the rain we will hold an umbrella on top of the equipment.

Storing sharp /electrical objects safely Charging the camera cannot be done it in wet place. It will be put on a desk in the corner and out of reach.

Wearing appropriate clothing When it is cold and raining we will wear layers to keep warm and we will stop the equipment form getting wet. The characters have their costumes. This will be smart and casual clothing.

Being aware of safety when interviewing We have permission to interview.

Planning locations The locations have been selected and confirmed they will be at two houses and some at the front gate of the school.

Filming members of the public We will have permission to film members of the public if we need to but at this point we will not need to.

Candles

We have candles being blown out on the cake we will be extra careful to make sure the flames do not spread

Using my risk asessment my gruop members helped me to complete the health and safety sheet for our short film and I typed it up for it go on to our blog.
